Lavender Lace May 2010

Hey, everyone! Failte! (welcome!)

I sure hope that you are enjoying these newsletters as much as I enjoy writing them! If you are a Highland games committee member, or know of an event that I do not mention here, please let me know and I will get the word out to my subscribers.

April saw Lavender Lace’s first appearance at the Loch Norman Highland Games in Huntersville, North Carolina. The crowd over the two days was put at just over 12,000 people! We had a super time! Our tent was located right next to the dance competition stage, so we had a great flow of traffic. We were also in sight of our Clan tent, so we could take quick excursions there and grab a snack from our relatives. At Loch Norman, we camp right across the road and they provide electricity and water hookups. The weather could not have been more perfect and vendor tents were provided, so no worries there … all in all a perfect weekend. Our family has attended these games for about the past eight years or so as patrons, so it was exciting for us to be there as vendors!

The month of May saw another inaugural event for Lavender Lace – The Savannah Scottish Festival and Highland Games in Savannah, Georgia! Located on the grounds of the Bethesda School for Boys, we are very excited to go see Sharon and all the folks from around the Savannah area! I guess that is a little misleading – people travel from all over the country to attend these events, both as competitors (athletes and dancers) and as patrons. Lavender Lace was there Saturday, May 8th. I had a new helper with me that day, Marji. She was be in training to do the Clover, South Carolina games for me in June. I will be in Blairsville, Georgia the same weekend as the Clover games (June 12). Kelsey was unable to be with me in Savannah because of a conflict with the volunteer organization to which we belong, the Civil Air Patrol.

In case you have not seen Lavender Lace this year, I have a new bracelet design that I am quite pleased with and seems to be getting good response at the events! I hope to get some pictures on the web site very soon. It is a triple-strand with a Celtic bead and slide clasp. I am making it in several colors and, of course, can make one to order in any color you need!

I got a special order for a necklace and earring set for a college football fan in the team colors recently. She was quite pleased with her set when I delivered them and will be ordering more for her friends! Though I make Celtic-themed jewelry to sell at Highland games, I can and will make special order items, as well!

*** Drumroll please …***Have you got your special Lavender Lace Rewards Program card yet? Nine purchases will get you a big 25% off your tenth! Please see me to get one of these special cards. Online purchasers will get a card and a sticker to stick on with each purchase! ***

Now, for a funny … A Scotsman walking through a field, sees a man drinking water from a pool with his hand. The Scotsman man shouts, 'Awa ye feel hoor tha’s full O’ coos Sharn' (Don't drink the water, it's full of cow [poo].) The man shouts back, 'I'm English, Speak English, I don't understand you'. The Scotsman man shouts back, 'Use both hands, you'll get more in.'

Well, I am off to pack the RV for The Road!

Slainte! (your health)

Sabrina
